May 27 Beta Frequently Asked Questions

posted by Mark Barbir 5 months ago 1 comment

    Greetings Beta Testers,

We’ve received a fantastic amount of feedback in our early round of testing. One of our goals is to maintain a consistent and open communication, so here are some answers to our most frequently asked questions.

    1. Is 3 credits the most I can charge for a clip?
Yes, our intent is to keep our pricing simple and affordable.

    2. Can my video clips be stolen and redistributed elsewhere for free?
We use a secure Flash/Flex-based player which securely streams clips.

    3. I’m interested your website, yet I don’t have clips to sell. Will I be of any use in your beta program?
We’re welcoming all types of feedback. There is no need to contribute clips if you don’t have the time or expertise.

    4. How long can my clips be?
We recommend a maximum of 10 minutes. If you have a video longer than that, we recommend creating a series of segments that break up your content. For instance, if you were remodeling a bathroom, you could segment the installation of a sink, tile, etc.

    5. Will all the clips be reviewed and edited for content?
Clips will reviewed by a moderator to make sure that the content is relevant and be the first to write a first review. We want to make sure that there’s a minimum of one review before clips become available for sale.

    6. Who sets clip pricing?
You have complete control over pricing. If a clip is selling well or poorly, you can easily raise or lower the price.

    7. What if 2 people are selling the same clip, who wins?
The best clip for the best price. We want to keep our marketplace of ideas open for competition.

    8. What if someone shows someone how to do something, they buy it, try it and it goes wrong, who is liable?
The buyer assumes the risk when they purchase the clip, visit our legal page for more detail.

    9. How much does it cost to join?
Nothing. And it’s free to post your own clips. During the beta we are offering 200 free credits for you to purchase any clip you’d like. Once the site goes live and we begin accepting payments, you’ll have two ways to acquire/earn credits.

    10. The purchasing credits screen is grayed out, what gives?
This page will be made available once we start accepting payments. Payments will be turned off while the website is in beta.

    11. If I buy credits but no one buys my clips do I get a refund?
You can post your clips for free, there is no charge to post them.

    12. Will someone be buying my clip before it’s actually reviewed?
There will be the option to preview the clip before purchasing, and there will be at least 1 moderator rating/review before it’s ready for sale within Clipgarden’s communities.

Thanks you for your continued feedback and support.

    Best Regards,
    The Clipgarden Team

When can I start telling the world to upload clips? Do I need to wait for professionals to fill the spots first before I pass the word to amateurs?
